Blasphemous thoughts on a holy day

What to do with blasphemous children?

- Easter today!

- What's that?

- Jesus was crucified as a rebel and then risen from the dead.

- That's clever.... but I thought that was last year,mummy.

- It is this year, too. Every year. It's for The Glory Of God.

Child thinks: "If Jesus is a 'repeat offender' why wasn't he detained at Her Majesty's pleasure so that he won't rebel again? Another Home Office cock-up". Walks away in grave doubt, storing more blasphemous questions for Xmas. Must be careful not to involve Father Xmas in all that because repeat performances by this jolly character have always been welcome.

A few years later, at University the child recalls that 'quality time' with mummy... Lessons learnt:
  • Rebellion -> Crucifixion -> Glory
  • Submission -> Longevity -> Oblivion
Choices, choices... [deep thought lasting 20 sec] "Submission, please".

Pharisees chuckle with glee. "Another one bites the dust".
